Croatian MPs back bill to ratify police cooperation agreement with Serbia

ZAGREB, Croatia - Members of the Croatian Parliament backed a bill to ratify a police cooperation agreement with the Serbian government on 28 January 2010.
The State Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior, Ivica Buconjic, said the agreement would further promote cooperation between the police services of the two countries and would be "a powerful weapon" in their common struggle against organised crime in the Balkans.
Buconjic said that Croatia had so far signed 29 similar bilateral agreements on police cooperation.
A bill to ratify an agreement with the Serbian government on the readmission of illegal immigrants also received support.
