New Braunfels remains in-house for its next city finance manager.
Sandy Paulos, who has served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer since 2018, will replace Jared Werner following his recent promotion to Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Paulos holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting and Management Information Systems, from the University of Houston.
“After starting her career with the Town of New Braunfels over 20 years ago, we are very pleased that Sandy is taking over as the new Director of Finance,” said City Manager Robert Camareno. “Sandy has held various leadership positions in the Town of New Braunfels and New Braunfels Utilities. Since returning to our organization in 2018 as Deputy Director of Finance, she has led and implemented many improvements and improvements within the finance department.
Paulos previously served as Accounting Supervisor for the City and New Braunfels Utilities, Director of Finance for the City of Converse and Director of Treasury for San Antonio Water Systems.
“I am super excited for this opportunity,” said Paulos. “I was hoping to have this opportunity eventually and now I have it. I’m really excited that I’m living here, and I’m getting this job with the city in the city I live in and love. I’m a transplant, but I feel like I’ve lived here my whole life.
She has lived in New Braunfels since 1997. She is a candidate for the Certified Government Finance Officer designation, which she is expected to complete next year.
Paulos immediately begins his new role as head of the department responsible for developing, coordinating and overseeing the city’s operating budget and municipal service plan and serves as manager of all city financial resources.
