SRINAGAR: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in collaboration with the General Directorate of Accounts and Treasury, Finance Department organized training workshops on the e-Kuber payment system for all treasury officers in the district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Two separate workshops were held in Jammu and Srinagar on September 14-16 for treasury officers from the respective divisions.
The aim of the workshops was to train treasury officers on the e-Kuber payment system, which is the RBI’s nationwide payment platform for government transactions.
KP Patnaik, Regional Director, RBI Jammu and Mahesh Dass, General Manager, Accounts and Treasury, J&K, in the presence of senior officials from RBI and the Finance Department, opened the workshops in Jammu. The training sessions were given by the managers of the RBI and NIC team, J&K.
Relevantly, the e-kuber payment system was launched at J&K by Arun K Mehta, former financial commissioner for finance on February 18, 2021, making UT one of the first states / UT to implement electronic payments on e-Kuber version 2.
Currently, J & K’s nine major public treasuries process payments through e-Kuber, which accounts for 44% of all government payments. With all district treasuries set to implement e-Kuber payments soon, this is seen as a major governance reform and a breakthrough in the government payment system at J&K.
