Three-day defense financial management course begins in Chandigarh: The Tribune India


Chandigarh, November 8

A three-day Defense Financial Management (DFMC) course hosted by the Senior Defense Accounts Controller (Western Command), Chandigarh, and the Financial Planning Cell (FP) at Western Command Headquarters, Chandimandir, was held started here today.

In his inaugural address, Lieutenant-General Devendra Sharma, Chief of Staff, Western Command, stressed the importance of better financial management by participating officers. He said the Department of Defense Accounts had expertise in this area and hoped that all participating officers would benefit from a faculty specializing in various financial management issues within the Department of Defense.

DR Negi, Senior Defense Controller, underlined the importance and necessity of this DFMC in view of the enormous delegation of financial powers to Army units and formations. The main objective of this course, he said, was to raise awareness of the latest concepts in financial management, procurement procedures and processes to ensure swift and smooth action by all parties involved in the broader interest of the organization.

The course, coordinated by Panveer Saini, Joint Controller of Defense Accounts and Colonel Gagandeep of the FP Cell, brought together virtually a hundred army officers stationed in different units and formations under the jurisdiction of the Western Command. – TNS
